Ready, Set, Connect! brings Kids together this summer

This week, Ready, Set, Connect! (RSC!) launched and we are excited to see Kids shine in this new online space!

The FPK team put our Possibility Thinking hats on to find a way to respond to some of the challenges Kids and families were experiencing during the COVID-19 pandemic.  In fact, RSC! is a direct response to a survey we conducted with families who said children are feeling bored, frustrated, and isolated. With reduced programming, and disconnect from their peers, Kids are more susceptible to mental health struggles as they try to cope with so much change, social isolation, and reduced access to services.

This feedback from parents and families guided the creation of RSC! – a free, three-week program this summer where Kids ages 9-12 meet online daily in a group of 10 led by one of our Program Leaders. Together they participate in virtual group activities that combines teamwork, Possibility Thinking, and community engagement – all while building confidence and leadership skills. 

This has been FPK’s response since the pandemic started – to find creative ways to meet Kids where they’re at, so they can be a part of something that connects them to each other and the wider community in a meaningful and impactful way.

On just day 3 of RSC!, one of our Program Leaders had this to say:

“Everyday I learn something new. Sometimes it’s from the Kids, sometimes it’s about Zoom, and sometimes it’s about myself. I have already become so reflective and I can’t wait to keep learning with my Crew!”

We are truly proud of RSC! as it combines some of the best of FPK programs in a completely virtual space. Due to high demand, this program is currently full for all sessions with 600 Kids registered and is currently accepting waitlist only.

We are excited to have reached so many Kids who needed a program like RSC!
