Ready, Set, Goal!

In our Ready, Set, Goal! Program, Kids aged 8 to 12 years are matched with trained volunteers called ‘KidCoaches’ who provide one to one support through weekly phone calls and at Activity days throughout the program. Kids create a ‘Goal of Contribution’ and are coached through the process of delivering it, usually involving friends and families.

Kids have helped the following organizations and causes through Ready, Set, Goal!:
• Women’s and children’s shelters
• Hospitals
• Animal welfare organizations
• Canadian Cancer Society, Terry Fox Foundation
• Down Syndrome, Autism and Diabetes awareness
• Seniors
• Food banks
• Environmental causes
• Homelessness

Ready, Set, Action!

Ready, Set, Action! Was formerly called ‘KidCouncil’ and involves groups of Kids aged 10 to 14 years in developing and delivering community action projects. Through Ready, Set, Action! Kids learn about teamwork and making an impact in their community. Ready, Set, Action! runs throughout the year and can take place anywhere at anytime!

Camp Contribution

Future Possibilities for Kids piloted a new summer camp in the summer of 2011. Camp Contribution was a week long free camp for 10 to 12 year olds that helped to build social awareness through visits to community organizations and short Kid led community action projects. Kids spent an intensive week learning leadership and teamwork skills with great results both for the Kids themselves and the organizations they chose to help. We hope to find funding to be able to provide more camps next summer in all of the areas in which we work. Watch this space for more information!
